Playing as a space marine on Mars, fighting against all sorts of vile demons that just won't stop coming after you, and doing this with all kinds of manly weapons that'll tear chunks out of them. Hell, you can even use your fists if you're feeling extra manly. What's not to like?
There's no further explanation needed. The space marine is the manliest video game character, ever, because he's a manly man that kicks the shit out of the army from Hell.
