It's So Ridiculous, It's Awesome: Capcom Quiz

Caponia used to be a nice, peaceful place due to a, get this, Wisdom Seed, but one day, some evil dude named Gordian decided to invade the kingdom. After taking the Wisdom Seed, he used its powers to give his minions "evil wisdom", which they used on the citizens by..... asking them questions. If they didn't answer right, they get eaten. Sucks, I know. Hatena VI, the sage king, who looks like Santa Claus, had enough of this stupid crap, so he gathered four smart people to "kick some ass" and retrieve the Wisdom Seed. And thus begins Capcom Quiz, a bonus game that was included in Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2, and probably the most enjoyable title in the collection.

So, as the game starts, you get to choose between four characters, a warrior, a wizard, an amazon, and, of course, a ninja, and travel across Caponia to do battle with Gordian's army of monsters. And you do this by moving across a board, landing on whichever enemy the dice has you move on. Once that happens, the fight will begin, and you must defeat that particular foe by... correctly answering his/her's questions. That's it. That's all you do for the entire game. Sounds retarded, doesn't it? Well, surprisingly, it's quite enjoyable, especially since all of the questions are Capcom related.

You don't have to worry about a limited amount of questions, either, Capcom or, most likely, Digital Eclipse went out of their way to put a crap load of questions into this title, ranging from recent releases like Dead Rising or old games like Pirate Ship Higemaru. "Thanks" to this game, I now know what Dante's guns are named and which DMC game a tank/helicopter boss came from, and I never even touched a DMC game before... Of course, you also get questions about such games like the Resident Evil series, Final Fight series, the Mega Man series, and rarely heard of games like Red Earth. Hell, you're even forced to answer a question if you wanna stay at an inn in this game.

Of course, Capcom Quiz isn't really that original, because it's basically Quiz and Dragons, a Capcom quiz game that came out in 1992. So, why is this feature focusing on Capcom Quiz instead of Quiz and Dragons? Because it's a better game. Quiz and Dragons, a video game, has questions like what grows on a tree in Brazil or what year the Kentucky Derby first run, while Capcom Quiz, a video game, has questions about video games. Capcom Quiz makes sense. I dunno how many people looked forward to playing a quiz game in an arcade back then where you had to know about someone's letter turning abilities, especially since you could easily lose all your lives on the very first try with those types of questions. Basically, Quiz and Dragons is a game so ridiculous, it's stupid.

So, if you wanna play a game where you have to do battle by answering a bunch of video game questions to defeat enemies like goblins, dragons, ninjas, dragons, inn keepers, and more dragons, then you just might wanna check out Capcom Quiz. I mean, what other game features a ninja and dracula battle to the death with knowledge? Hell, if you end up not enjoying it, there's 20 other games on the collection, one of which is Magic Sword. And we all know Magic Sword kicks ass.
