When I watched Transporter 2 for the first time, I liked it. I thought the action and plot were better than the first movie. That's not to say the first installment was bad, but, I thought it could've been better. That's where T2 delivered...... or so I thought. When I viewed this movie for the second time.... I came to the realization that Transporter 2 sucked.
The first 15/20 minutes was still a good buildup to what was about to happen (boy gets kidnapped), and we get a nice car chase scene afterwards. However, when the chase ends.... so does the movie. Kinda. Everything suddenly slows down for the next 20/30 minutes. I wouldn't have mind so much, but they really didn't do much within that time. All we see is Frank (the transporter) investigating some leads, and the husband and wife of the child bitch and moan to each other. My goodness, the fighting those two did. That was the worst part of the movie. It was painful to watch, mainly because they were trying to make the wife look like the victim, thus trying to make us feel sorry for her.
It wasn't working, because she was acting like an irrational bitch most of the time. There was this one point in the movie where she blamed her husband's success as the reason for the kidnapping. The fuck? However, the worst moment came when the police finally found their son in a van somewhere. The bomb squad sent in a robot to open up the door. Meanwhile, the couple were in the backseat of a police car watching the whole thing go down. The wife was freaking out the whole time wondering why it's taking so long. The husband tried to calm her down by telling her these guys are professionals, but she screams some more. She then gets out of the car, runs towards the van, and opens the door. You have no idea how fucking disappointed I was that the van didn't explode. Later in the film, the husband apologized for being a dick (there were times he acted stupid, but most of the time his outbursts were reasonable). I was waiting for the wife to do the same....... it never happened. Bitch.
There were a lot of hits and misses when it came to the action scenes in T2. Two good moments were the car chase and when Frank starts kicking the crap out of guards near the end. But then you see crappy ones like Frank running after a guy for quite some time. It sucked. Another bad moment was the confrontation between Frank and the bad guy's (I didn't bother remembering his name) right-hand women (who failed miserably at trying to be badass). Considering she was being a pain in the butt to Frank for the whole movie, you'd think this would be a kickass fight. Instead, the woman swings around on some window curtains for about a minute or two until finally crashing into a spiked wall. How horribly anti-climatic. The CGI in this movie also sucked (the worst offenders being the helicopter and the plane), but they aren't even worth talking about.
Overall, Transporter 2 almost becomes a shitty movie, but is saved by some good moments. Because of that, it's an average film. You're better off watching the first movie. While it isn't a fantastic movie itself, it's much better than its sequel. It also has a hot asian woman that isn't as annoying as the female character in this film.
Film Rating: 5/10
